This will surely offend a few people. That's OK.
Even Jesus said it's impossible not to offend. So, why will this article offend?
Because it's based upon the word of God and goes so far against the religious system today - I am sure a few religious spirits and mindsets will be upset.
Before we continue I am asking you to go grab your Bible, yep your Bible, and turn to Romans 4:8 - and then read the verse - slowly... (I am not placing it here - you read it from your own Bible)
This verse is not preached a lot today... why? Most preachers do not understand the passage - or they simply choose to ignore it.
We are not Under Condemnation
One of the main problems I see during our counseling sessions is guilt and shame from areas of condemnation! Although the word of God reminds us that we are not under condemnation - the enemy is very active in his attempt to place us back under the spell of self-disciplining religion.
As a believer you have been JUSTIFIED from your sins. You are no longer under condemnation and here is the really important point...YOUR SINS are no longer held against you! What? Read that again... and back to Romans 4:8 - your SINS are no longer imputed or held against you!
But Pastor Wayne, you don't understand my sins...maybe not. Yet, I do know that the word of God promises us that our sins are not imputed against us. What more can I say? Don't you LOVE grace?
Should we go and sin so grace may abound? Yea, we have heard that before. And if you are not hearing that question, you are probably still living under or teaching a gospel based on legalism and works! And by the way, you should STOP that now. Period.
You don't have to Face Those Problems
Why? In our counseling sessions I see way too many people that are facing problems they do not have to face! Guilt and shame because of past sins, or even current struggles with sin - they place themselves into a sin-conscious mindset and thus they cannot enjoy the freedom of Christ! They "believe" on an unconscious level that they should "be punished" for their sins, and therefore they stay in areas of doubt and fear.
Sickness can stem from our unconscious thoughts - so what happens when we place ourselves in condemnation? When you think you "deserve" to get sick - sickness has an open door!
If you are under legalism now - RUN from it! Run to the true gospel of Jesus Christ and away from the religious system of death. If you are teaching legalism, because of ignorance or stubbornness, STOP at once! If the word of God plainly states that our sins are longer imputed unto us, who are you to preach and teach otherwise?
Jesus took the sins of the world upon himself! It's time we stop trying to do the same.
