Are Smart People Are Ignorant Morons?
No.
But they are ignorant. You heard me right - SMART people are truly ignorant!
Let me explain... Ignorance is a word that is often misunderstood and very often labeled incorrectly.
The word ignorance is used in a very derogatory manner in most cases, and used as an insult against other people.
However the true definition of the word "Ignorant" is something different...
Ignorant: a : destitute of knowledge or education <an>ignorant society>; also : lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified <parents>ignorant of modern mathematics>b : resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence ignorant errors></parents></an>
Look closely, it means destitute of knowledge or education in a specific area!
I myself will quickly admit my ignorance in MANY areas - for example... baking, rocket science, physiology, quantum physics, etc... I am ignorant because I have
a limited or no knowledge at all in many areas. And that is great - I don't have the time, desire, or the need to be knowledgeable in all areas!
I do need and choose to be knowledgeable in the areas of life that fulfill me and my purpose. So, determine the skills you need in life, in your business and personal Life, and study hard as you seek wisdom!
There is a price to be successful, and price is to gain knowledge and wisdom in the areas that you choose to be successful in... and work on it every single day!
As you begin this process you will know that your goals are being met, you are on the path to greatness, and therefore 2 things will happen. You can quickly dismiss areas or projects that do not
line up with your goals and areas of study, and you can quickly learn to say, I AM IGNORANT in that area.
Recently I had someone come to "sell me" on a new roof for our home. Now, instead a smiling and shaking my head as they discussed all the material and processes, I admitted my ignorance in this area and studied.
Here is a key to remember - as you admit ignorance you can then receive knowledge and revelation. The problem however is that if we adhere to the belief that ignorance is derogatory, then we refuse to admit our need to learn.
IGNORANCE is great
because ignorance is a place for growth in our life. Are you ignorant, or should I say, are you willing to admit your ignorance in areas of your life? I will admit the first few times I admitted I was ignorant, it felt kind of weird. So, I kept admitting my ignorance in areas until I no longer felt "stupid" but actually felt "smart" for seeking more knowledge.
So, I invite you to look at your life - business, family, relationships, etc. Look and see what areas you need more knowledge, mentoring, or coaching and then make a determination to say, "In that area I am ignorant- how can I learn more?"
