22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind
man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"
24 He looked up and said,
"I see people; they look like trees walking around."
25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly." - Mark 8:22-25
Prayer works.
If you have a need in your life, always remember that prayer does work!
We see from the above Bible verse that Jesus was praying for a blind man, and it required a second prayer for the
full manifestation of the miracle.
This was Jesus himself praying, so why did he have to pray twice? Oh, that question could open up a myriad of responses and probably a few arguments as well. We will save that for another time...
The point of this article is
persistent prayer - and being willing to continue in faith, even after the miracle does not appear immediately.
A few years ago in a church service in High Point, NC I was praying for a child that was nearly 100% blind. Following the biblical example of healing in the word of God, we laid hands upon his eyes and commanded blindness to go in Jesus's name. With all
authority and boldness I proclaimed healing and demanded the spirit of blindness to leave. Yet, after testing (as Jesus did), the child was still unable to see no more than just a few feet away.
Failure? It seemed so.
Yet, based on the scripture
above, we prayed again! And again... and again... and yep, yet again. Now the spirit of doubt said stop. And so did the look of the congregation... we are at a healing conference and facing failure.
We prayed again. We decreed healing and demanded blindness to go in Jesus name. This time the miracle came! The child's wonderful brown eyes
were opened up and he could see! We tested again, up to 30 feet away he could see perfectly!
HEALED IN JESUS' NAME!
Persistent prayer works! What if however... What if we had quit praying after the first, second, or even the third time? We could
have blamed the failed prayer on the lack of faith, God's timing, the sovereignty of God, etc. Whatever our excuse may have been, the young boy would have went home - without sight.
Does this always stand true? No. Yet, what if you are to pray one more time - what if you are to pray one more time? Could your miracle be one prayer, two prayers, even ten or
twenty prayers away? Are you willing to decree and stand one more time?
Are you willing to go to the church again and seek prayer? Are you willing?
Never let the enemy still your victory because we have failed to persist. I am praying for you today and
expecting you to receive!
Today could be your miracle!
